Either party can file a dispute while the trade is locked or a cancel has started, until the cancel window ends. The rules are on Disputes.

File

1

File Dispute

On the trade page, click File Dispute. Connect the wallet that is a party to this trade.
2

Bond

The page shows the Bond Amount and when it’s returned or forfeited. You get it back if the dispute ends without finding you at fault. You can lose it if the arbiter service finds you at fault, or if on-chain proof shows the trade had already settled.
3

Describe the Dispute

Under What happened?, describe the problem, and add Supporting Files. The files are uploaded to the evidence store, and their fingerprint goes on-chain with the filing.
4

File this dispute?

Review, then approve the bond and file. Two wallet steps: the bond approval, then the filing.

Filing a dispute: the bond

Once filed, the trade shows Disputed, and the page shows the challenge deadline and the outcome as they arrive.

Answer

If the other party filed, you can answer once, before the challenge closes. Click View Dispute, then Answer Dispute, and add your description and files the same way.

The outcome

The arbiter service rules, or, with no ruling by the challenge deadline, the dispute ends as a mutual refund. After the ruling’s window, Finalize dispute applies the outcome on the ad chain; the other chain pays out once the result is proven there. The relayer normally sends this for you. If your bond is returned, it appears under Funds waiting for you on the trade page.
